Gaining the Edge

Gaining the Edge prepares and helps learners to access and complete Free TAFE courses, which are provided by the Victorian Government for skill shortage areas. This is because many students who enrol at TAFE do not have sufficient skills to complete their course.

Program modules:

Resilience: Learners will understand what resilience is, and how to develop academic resilience as well as strategies to respond to stress. This module will also explore the concept of goal setting and assertive communication.

Digital literacy: This module covers the basic digital literacy skills required to produce and access the documents required for a course. Participants will develop a PowerPoint presentation and learn how to learn online.

Placement & employability: This module focuses on communication skills, work placement expectations, employability skills, applying for a position, responsibilities at work, interview skills, and good phone etiquette.

Learning to learn: This module covers topics such as lifelong learning, understanding coursework and assessments, and communication skills for studying at TAFE.
