Community Legal Service – General Legal Advice

in partnership with ARC Justice

Overview

ARC Justice’s Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre provides a General Legal Advice Service, which helps people to understand their legal issues and options to solve their legal problems.

Lawyers provide free legal advice appointments for help with a wide range of legal issues including the following.

  • Family violence; intervention orders and other related legal issues.
  • Family law; prioritising child contact.
  • Fines, debt and problems with goods or services.
  • Elder abuse and decision-making.

A legal advice appointment can help you to:

  • understand your legal issue, rights and options;
  • know what steps to take next to solve your legal problem;
  • know who you can contact for further legal help if you need it.

Types of appointment available:

  1. In-person appointments
    Available Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm, at Shepparton office. To book, call or visit the Bendigo or Shepparton offices in person.
  2. Phone appointments
    A convenient option for those who can’t attend in person. Available 9am-4pm on weekdays.

Access and Referral Information

To book an appointment for legal advice, please visit the Shepparton office or call 5831 0900 during office hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. You don’t need a referral.

To make an appointment, some questions will be asked about the legal issue and personal details will be confirmed. This information helps determine if a lawyer is available to help. If assistance isn’t possible, information about other legal services that may be able to help will be provided.
