Q1. Which program/s are you involved in, and what do they aim to do for the community?
I am one of the Community Facilitators working for Our Place at the Seymour Family and Children’s Centre. We work together with Seymour College, Kids First Australia, Mitchell Shire Council, Family Care and Nexus Primary Health to create a platform to deliver their services on the school site. We provide a welcoming and safe space for families to gather and engage and hope that by working together we can provide easy and comfortable access to the services and support that they and their children need.
Q2. How did you become interested in Community Programs? What were you doing before this?
I have always been very involved in my Community, have worked in Community organisations and studied a Diploma in Community Services. Prior to this position I was working as a Local Area Coordinator for Intereach who is the local partner to the NDIS.
Q3. How do you think a Community Program Directory makes a difference for people in Seymour?
The Community Program Directory makes it easier for families to discover and link in with services that are specific to Seymour and hopefully easily accessible. It can be so confusing for families to find what is actually available in our local Community. Many families need support and when in crisis it needs to be straight forward for them to find who can help them and where they are located.
